Advantages of plate heat exchangers:

①High thermal efficiency

The plate heat exchanger has a very high heat transfer coefficient because the fluid can reach turbulence at a very low Reynolds number in a narrow flow path composed of two plates, and the flow path structure makes the plate less prone to fouling. In the heat exchange between water and water, the heat transfer coefficient of the plate heat exchanger can reach 6000W/m2·°C, which is 2-3 times higher than that of the tubular heat exchanger.

 

②Small heat loss

Since only the edge of the plate is exposed to the atmosphere, the heat dissipating surface is actively small and usually does not need to be insulated.

 

③Low heating costs

At higher heat transfer efficiencies, the heat transfer temperature difference can be set smaller at the ends.

 

④Minimal scaling

Turbulent flow and runner structure minimize fouling.

 

⑤Low hysteresis

Due to the narrower flow path, the fluid stagnation is very low.

 

⑥Small footprint and easy installation

Under the same heat transfer conditions, the plate heat exchanger takes up 1/3~1/4 of the tube-and-tube heat exchanger, and usually only needs to be installed upright on the ground.
